Between a basin and a door there is often no run of wall long enough for a bar. 817009 is specified for that gap.
It needs width, not length
A ring occupies a fraction of the wall a bar needs. In a powder room that is the difference between fitting and not.
The towel fouls the door first
The ring is small and a loaded hand towel is not. Check the door swing against the hanging towel before the position is fixed.
