36-Inch Fireclay Farmhouse Sink: Cabinet Fit & Packaging Inspection
A B2B pre-fabrication and receiving guide for 36-inch fireclay farmhouse sinks, with exact current-sheet facts, unresolved model fields and claim-safe packaging controls.
On this page
Fit a 36-inch fireclay farmhouse sink from its exact drawing and approved physical basin, not a nominal size or generic cabinet rule. Confirm exterior dimensions, center bowl interior depth, apron geometry, support, plumbing and countertop reveal before fabrication. Inspect a controlled package and record actual damage; do not state a breakage rate or ASTM result without a traceable test or shipment record.
Cover image note: Planning illustration; it is not packaging-test evidence or a measured breakage record.
SANIKB sells fireclay farmhouse sinks. This supplier-authored guide is not independent packaging testing, a structural design, or model certification. Exact variant images, drawings, listings, cabinet approvals, and shipment evidence remain project gates.
Nominal 36 Inches Is a Product Class, Not a Cutout
Nominal width helps a buyer filter a catalog, but kiln-fired fixtures can be below, at, or near 36 inches overall. Different 36-inch products can also vary in front-to-back dimension, exterior height, apron shape, rim, bowl configuration, drain position, workstation ledge, and stated tolerance. These differences change the cabinet front, support, plumbing and countertop.
The current SNT3620 supplier cut sheet states 35 3/4 × 19 3/4 × 9 7/8 inches overall. The current SN100W3620D sheet states 36 × 20 × 10 inches overall. Both are nominal 36-inch apron-front fireclay sinks, yet they are not interchangeable fabrication objects.
Use the standard kitchen sink size reference for concept planning only. Once a model is selected, the controlled cut sheet, installation instructions and approved sample govern.
Compare the Three Current 36-Inch Catalog Candidates Carefully
| Exact SKU | Current documented form | Dimensions in documents reviewed for this guide | Remaining approval gate |
|---|---|---|---|
| SNT3620 | Single bowl, reversible apron-front farmhouse sink | 35 3/4 × 19 3/4 × 9 7/8 in overall; 8 3/4 in center interior bowl depth | Confirm tolerance, minimum cabinet, support, cutout/reveal and exact current listing |
| SN3618 | 36-inch white variant in a classic single-bowl apron-front series | No current SN3618 cut sheet was available in the documents reviewed; the series page has no structured overall-size field | Obtain and approve the exact current cut sheet before stating dimensions or fabricating |
| SN100W3620D | Double-bowl 50/50 workstation, smooth apron front | 36 × 20 × 10 in overall; 8 15/16 in center interior bowl depth | Bind the 36-inch variant image, confirm accessories/support and verify exact current listing |

The SN3618 and SN100W3620D product pages currently default to 33-inch featured images even though 36-inch variants exist. Those images could misrepresent the selected size, so no specific models are displayed here until variant-specific imagery is verified.
Keep Bowl Interior Depth Separate From Overall Height
Bowl interior depth is measured at the center inside the basin from the defined interior rim reference to the bowl bottom. Overall height is measured on the exterior side and includes the wall and base geometry. The two values are not interchangeable.
On the current SNT3620 sheet, the overall height is 9 7/8 inches while the interior bowl depth is 8 3/4 inches. On the current SN100W3620D sheet, overall height is 10 inches while interior bowl depth is 8 15/16 inches. Using overall height as bowl depth would overstate usable depth and could distort faucet, user-reach, disposal and trap planning.
A double-bowl workstation also needs ledge and accessory clearance. Confirm whether the stated bowl-depth reference applies consistently to both bowls, and review the section drawing rather than inferring geometry from a front image.
Determine Cabinet Fit From Clearances and Structure
There is no safe universal statement that every 36-inch sink requires a 39-inch cabinet. Ask the manufacturer for the exact minimum cabinet requirement and support method, then verify the actual cabinet construction. The project team should record clear internal width, face-frame opening, cabinet side thickness, apron opening, door and hardware positions, nearby appliances, drain and trap space, disposal envelope if applicable, water lines, and service access.
The support system should carry the basin independently in the manner required by the instructions. Do not rely on sealant as structural support. Keep rails, platform or brackets clear of the drain, disposal, trap and service path. The apron must align with the finished cabinet opening without creating point contact at its corners.
Coordinate the countertop reveal and edge finish with the sample before cutting. Fireclay dimensions and rim geometry may have stated variation, so a nominal template should not be copied across unverified batches. The fireclay farmhouse installation guide provides the trade sequence, while the exact model instructions remain controlling.
Approve the Fabrication Package Before Production
- Freeze model, SKU, finish, bowl configuration, accessories and document revisions.
- Receive an exact production-representative sample and photograph its label.
- Measure overall dimensions, center interior bowl depth, drain, apron, rim and support interfaces.
- Resolve any difference among catalog fields, cut sheet, sample and product image.
- Approve the cabinet opening, support drawing, countertop reveal and plumbing envelope.
- Define tolerance and visual acceptance rules for receiving inspection.
- Require written change control before any mold, finish, drawing, accessory or package revision.
For repeat programs, identify which dimensions are critical-to-fit and sample them by an agreed plan. Do not claim interchangeability across batches unless the program has evidence supporting that conclusion.
Treat Packaging as a Controlled Configuration
A large fireclay sink package should identify the exact SKU, finish, sink orientation, protective components, accessory locations, carton construction, internal immobilization, corner and apron protection, pallet pattern, stacking limit, strapping, labels, and gross dimensions and weight. Photos should show the actual approved package, not a generic carton render.
Receiving inspection should record carton condition, pallet movement, crushed corners, punctures, water exposure, strap damage, internal shift, missing protective pieces, accessory contact, chips and cracks. Keep damage photographs tied to shipment, pallet, carton, batch, carrier and lane. This creates useful corrective-action data without inventing a public performance rate.
If a project invokes ASTM D4169, specify the edition, distribution cycle, assurance level, package configuration, conditioning, sequence, number of specimens, acceptance criteria and report. D4169 is a practice for performance testing of shipping units through a selected distribution sequence. Mentioning it does not prove that a specific SANIKB package passed.
Measure Damage Without Inventing a Breakage Rate
A defensible damage metric needs a numerator, denominator, period and rule. Define whether the numerator includes visible carton damage, cosmetic glaze defects, repairable chips, structural cracks or only units rejected at receiving. Define whether the denominator is shipped units, received units or inspected units. Separate manufacturing defects, transit damage, warehouse handling and installation damage.
Report results by model, package revision, batch, lane, carrier and destination when the sample is large enough to be meaningful. Record concealed damage discovered after unpacking. A small pilot, one route or a laboratory sequence should not be converted into a universal global breakage promise.
Corrective action may involve internal supports, accessory isolation, carton or pallet configuration, warehouse instructions, carrier handling, or product geometry. Validate any change under a documented method and version the package before claiming improvement.
Verify Exact-Model Documentation
The ASME ceramic plumbing fixture standard provides the applicable product-standard context. Current supplier sheets for SNT3620 and SN100W3620D state cUPC listing, but this article does not independently verify those statements.
Where a listing is required, search the IAPMO Product Listing Directory and match the exact model, manufacturer, standard, configuration and current status. Obtain the missing current SN3618 sheet before any model-level dimension or listing claim.
The 36-inch fireclay collection and broader farmhouse sink collection are shortlist tools. They do not replace the variant-specific submittal and image check.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will a 36-inch farmhouse sink fit a 36-inch cabinet?
Do not assume it will. Compare the exact sink, required support and apron opening with the cabinet’s clear internal width and structure. Obtain a current manufacturer minimum-cabinet requirement or written project approval.
Is a 39-inch cabinet always required?
No universal rule applies to every model and cabinet construction. Treat 39 inches only as an unverified planning idea unless the exact sink and cabinet documents support it.
What is the bowl depth of a 36-inch fireclay sink?
It varies by exact model. The current SNT3620 sheet states 8 3/4 inches of center interior depth; the current SN100W3620D sheet states 8 15/16 inches. Do not use exterior overall height as bowl depth.
Does ASTM D4169 certify a sink package?
No. It is a test practice applied using selected conditions. Ask for the exact report, edition, distribution cycle, assurance level, package revision, specimens and acceptance criteria.
What breakage rate should a buyer expect?
No generic percentage can be stated responsibly. Request documented shipment data with model, package revision, period, lane, damage definition and denominator. Compare like-for-like records and keep laboratory and field results separate.
